The Dukeries Christmas Party organised by Catherine, was a really enjoyable way to end to the year and to congratulate the Dukeries MC award winners. Never seen so many Christmas jumpers and there were several Elves and a visit from Santa. Book early for next year!
2016 was a very successful year for several Dukeries competitors but especially Dave Welch who won a clean sweep of the EMAMC Rally Championship, the ANEMMC Rally Championship and most importantly the Dukeries MC Championship. Whilst this was eventually a dominant result, there was strong competition in the different competitions throughout the season including from Emma Berrisford, Matt Wood, Simon Belcher and John Griffiths.
The East Midlands Awards Diner and Presentation takes place on Saturday 28th January at the Hostess Suite at Sookholme between Mansfield and Shirebrook. If you want to attend, then you need to submit your ticket application to Denis Turner before 20th January. Forms can be downloaded from www.emamc.org.uk/downloads/Awardsbooking2016.pdf
The new year started with the Track Day at Blyton which seems to get more popular every year. Thanks particularly to John Stevens and Stuart Randy for making it happen, and for providing the surprisingly benign weather for Blyton in January. There are lots of photos on the Facebook page.
Next event on the Dukeries MC agenda is the Imperial Commercials Volkswagen Donington Rally on Sunday March 5th. The event is round 6 of the MSN Circuit Rally Championship as well as the second round of the Dukeries MC Rally Championship. Entries open at 2pm on Sunday 15th January and if you are planning to compete on the event we urge you to submit your entry and pay the entry fee on Sunday as soon as entries open to avoid disappointment. More information and Regulations are on the Donington Rally website.
Every Dukeries MC member who is not competing on this event is asked to please come and help with the organisation and running of the event. Many hands make light work, and we need all the help we can get with the stage set ups on Friday and Saturday and the stage changes and strip down on Sunday plus lots of marshals on Saturday and Sunday. Please e-mail David Baugh now and offer to help. David Baugh: email@example.com
There will be a full colour event programme with stage plans and entry list etc and anyone wanting to place an advert should e-mail Howard: firstname.lastname@example.org [100 pounds per full page and 50 pounds for half page]
This event, along with the MSN Circuit Championship events at Cadwell are not included in the EMAMC or ANEMMC championships because of the ability for everyone to obtain an entry. However most of the EMAMC and ANEMMC championship events are also included in the 2017 Dukeries Rally Championship and we urge everyone to register for these championships and especially register for the EMAMC Championship (just 2 pounds) and score points for the EMAMC Club championship. Dukeries MC were the champion club in 2016 and we very much want to win again in 2017.
Must end by mentioning the recent passing of David Clibbery who was an integral part of Dukeries Motor Club from the 1970's through to the late 1990's in various guises at different times including Clerk of the Course for the Dukeries Rally, Chairman and Secretary of Dukeries MC, Chairman of the EMAMC and MSA Forestry Liaison Officer for the East Midlands. He was also a very active competitor in an immaculate self-prepared Cooper S and later a Rover V8 and a Historic Saab. He will be sadly missed.
