Welcome to the Dukeries Motor Club Website
Dukeries Motor Club is based in Nottinghamshire and meets twice a month, every second Thursday and fourth Tuesday, at the Mansfield Rugby Union Club, Eakring Road, Mansfield. (O.S. Map 120, Ref 574/611)
Dukeries Motor Club was formed in 1954 with the aim of
"promoting, encouraging and organising motor sport". It took its name from the area of rural North Nottinghamshire known as 'The Dukeries' which was once home to five Dukes. It is one of the regions leading motor clubs with an excellent reputation for organising events. In the past the club has organised up to six rallies each year, but efforts nowadays are concentrated on two major special stage events, the
Dukeries Rally which runs in June and the
Premier Rally in October.
In addition to the organisation of these events, Dukeries members assist other motor clubs by marshalling on many events throughout the year, including the Network Q Rally of Great Britain, the final round of the FIA World Rally Championship, in November. Many Dukeries club members are active competitors and their efforts over the years have meant that Dukeries Motor Club has won both the East Midlands Association (EMAMC) and the North East Midlands Association (ANEMMC) Club Championships on many occasions. The club also runs its own rally championship for club competitors with end of season trophies and cash prizes. (see Club Calendar for further details)
Dukeries Motor Club Ltd is affiliated to the Royal Automobile Club Motor Sports Association (the MSA) which is the governing body of motor sport in Great Britain. It is also a member of five Regional Motor Club Associations; the EMAMC, ANEMMC, AEMC, AWMMC & ANCC.
If you think you may be interested in joining Dukeries Motor Club or wish to renew your current membership, please complete the
Membership Form (PDF format) and send to the Membership Secretary. The club has now moved to a fixed renewal date (to pull us into line with the MSA licencing scheme). Therefore subscriptions due between January 1st and June 30th will run until 31st December. with Single/Joint membership costing £12.00 (although you need seperate memberships if more than 1 is a competing member).
03/02/2010: Special BTRDA Award for Dukeries Rally
The Dukeries Rally has just won another accolade by being presented with the John Gott Memorial Trophy at the recent BTRDA awards luncheon. This is a special award was presented by the BTRDA Rally Committee in recognition of 50 consecutive years of the Dukeries Rally which is a remarkable achievement especially given the challenges of running a major event in the Nottinghamshire area.
The Dukeries Rally was first associated with the BTRDA Rally Championships back in 1968 and has been part of a BTRDA rally championship for most years since then.
Clerk of the Course Bob Draper and his wife Linda were invited to the luncheon and were very proud to receive the award on behalf of all the Dukeries Rally organising team.
The John Gott salver is now on display in the Trophy Cabinet alongside the Vernon North Shield which the club won recently for being the EMAMC club champions in 2009.
